In 2018 he became more involved in the design of single-family residential projects with responsibilities including but not limited to, drafting & designing foundation & framing plans, performing on-site inspections, & coordinating site work & soils sampling. He achieved his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Technology Institute of Higher Education of Monterrey. After obtaining his degree he moved to El Paso & eventually established in San Antonio in 2015 where he worked as project estimator, superintendent & car salesman before joining the structural engineering world as a career. He joined Reed Structural Engineering from the beginning after working with Eric previously doing residential structural design for a wide variety of clients. His honesty & personalized customer service skills made him a great asset in the development & growth of the firm, & he continues to be a valuable member of the Reed Structural team. When Jesus is not working, he likes to work on cars & motorcycles, spend time with family, & go to the rodeo. He also volunteers weekly at a ranch doing equine physical therapy for special needs individuals. Eric has served as the project lead on hundreds of projects including wood framing design, concrete foundation & framing systems, structural steel designs, historic forensic analysis, concrete retrofit design, light gauge steel design/detailing, unique structural designs to accommodate historic residential remodels/additions, & extensive commercial construction administration services. He received his degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering from New Mexico State University, with the Outstanding Senior Award from the College of Engineering. While in school, Eric worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Constructed Facilities Lab at North Carolina State University, and the NMDOT/NMSU Bridge Inspection Co-Op (as a Federal Highway Administration Certified Bridge Inspector). After spending a few years as a project engineer for large scale commercial design projects in El Paso, TX, in 2016 Eric moved to New Braunfels, Texas. In relocating, Eric’s design experience expanded beyond just large scale commercial work to include residential design work. Eric started Reed Structural Engineering in 2020 & structured the company around his passion for maintaining helpful & healthy relationships with clients, providing exceptional customer service & coordination, & applying sound structural engineering analysis to both commercial & residential construction. In his free time, Eric is an avid runner and cyclist. Eric & his wife Amber each write, perform, & record their own music.
